The Annual Fund at John Ball Zoo supports the Zooâs greatest need, whether itâs large or small! Because most gifts to the Annual Fund are unrestricted, it gives John Ball Zoo the flexibility to direct the funds where they are most needed and have the greatest impact; animal care, educational programs, conservation efforts, and so much more! The Annual Fund touches every aspect of the Zoo!
John Ball Zoo Annual Animal Fund
A gift of $100, $50, or even $25 can make the world of a difference.
By donating today your impact will be multiplied thanks to a matching grant from the Michigan Arts & Culture Council. With a gift of just $50, you will provide a week of fresh produce for one of our animals. When you donate
$500, you will fund conservation projects just like the Poweshiek Skipperling program. At $1,000, your impact will ensure the continued innovative veterinary care of our over 2,400 animals. Every dollar makes a difference, and we are calling on you this season to continue your generous support of John Ball Zoo.

A $25 donation can:
- Feed an Amur tiger for one day.
- Feed a giant anteater for one week.
- Feed our two brown bears, Yogi and Booboo, for one day.
A $50 donation can:
- Feed a snow leopard for one week.
- Purchase a heated water dispenser for an Amur tiger if donated each month for one year!
A $100 donation can:
- Feed an African lion for one week.
- Feed a mountain bongo for one month.
- Provide an engaging, Wild Encounter for a classroom of students where they can meet and learn about JBZâs ambassador animals
A $250 donation can:
- Feed a chimpanzee for one month.

John Ball Zoo is a conservation-based nonprofit organization. We pride ourselves on being more than a local attraction. This means that we spend our resources engaging our community to share in our mission and vision of conserving wildlife and wild places
A New Home For Our Howlers
- With your support we can replace our aging Howler Monkey habitat with a new, multi-species habitat that will provide our troop with the wildest home possible. This new habitat will adapt to the innovative landscape of animal wellbeing, as well as provide a sustainable solution for a multitude of species and their habitats.

- Your impact is felt beyond West Michigan. Created in 1985, John Ball Zooâs Wildlife Conservation Fund has helped fund over 100 projects in over 30 countries worldwide.

Improving the lives of our howler monkey troop is a step toward innovation at John Ball Zoo. We are replacing our aging howler monkey habitat with a new, multi species habitat that will provide this troop and other species with their most wild home ever.
Our new howler monkey habitat will provide permanent, comfortable, and year-round housing for not only howler monkeys, but also white-faced sakis, Hoffmanâs two-toed sloths, six-banded armadillos, red-footed tortoises, and yellow-footed tortoises.
As of today, only 4% of the worldâs animals live in the wild and only 3% of the worldâs land remains ecologically intact. We have work to do. In 2022 alone, John Ball Zoo has spent $370,000 on conservation projects locally and around the world, doing what we do best, protecting animals and the wild habitats they call home. As you can imagine, this work takes immense resources and thatâs why we need your help today.
When you donate to our annual fundraising campaign you help us not only keep our doors open to the roughly 500,000 visitors to the zoo each year, but you also help save animal species right here in Michigan. The Poweshiek Skipperling program is just one great example of our conservation impact. Through regional partnerships, we are raising and releasing this species right here in Michigan, in the only wild lands left where they currently exist.
